Shaun McBride

Shaun McBride's focus is training reined cow horses, reiners and cutters. His goal is to promote reined cow horse events in Ohio and to increase the knowledge and awareness of reined cow horse events.

Training Philosophy
Shaun believes a horse should be broke, have a job and do it's job correctly. He also believes it needs to be fun for the rider and the horse. On cattle, he wants a horse to get to the point where they can think on their own and not rely on the rider. This also keeps the horse from becoming too "mechanical" in the cow work. A horse that has the responsibility of making his own decisions will also make fewer mistakes.

Shaun doesn't have a cookie cutter approach to training. Each horse is an individual and is on it's own program. Shaun will want to know what you want out of your horse.

What's your end goal?
If you want to show, do you want to win or just be competitive?
What are your horse's problem areas or is there anything that you want "fixed"?

He will also be upfront with you. If he believes that he will not be able to get your horse to do what you need, Shaun will tell you so you aren't wasting your time and money.

Shaun has been a professional horse trainer since 1999, starting out as an assistant trainer. In the fall of 2006, he started his own cow horse training program for outside horses. He has trained NRCHA and NRHA money earners as well as AQHA point earners. He is a member of the AQHA, APHA, NRCHA, NRHA and NCHA.
